Yorkshire Post Excellence in Business Awards 2006
Best company to work for - judged by Bradford University School of Management
A bi-annual job satisfaction/attitude survey uses employee input to identify areas for improvement. In the last survey in June 2006, managing partner Steve Newdall was described as 'a star', 'possessing transformational leadership skills'.
The practice employs 72 full time and 7 part time staff over two sites and in the same survey 91% of staff felt they were part of team that works well together.
Levi Solicitors has introduced an online forum for employees' views called teamtalk. Via the staff intranet site staff can have their say on any aspect of the business and all comments and questions are answered in strict confidence. Peer recognition through the annual teamtalk awards invites nominations for 8 accolades.
Outstanding performance is rewarded through bonus payments and individuals can also be rewarded for loyalty and commitment at the discretion of partners.
As a result of feedback the firm has introduced flexible working with reduced hours and working from home taken up by 2 employees. An enhanced benefits package to include childcare vouchers has also been introduced. A Diversity Action Committee supports the firm's goal of being an innovative leader in diversity.
A proactive HR department aims to ensure all staff get the help and support they need and the firm operates in a culture of trust, opportunity, fairness and fun. An individual and firm wide training plan identifies all training needs through the appraisal process.
Social functions and team building events are organised throughout the year and Friday is dress down day for all staff.
